First Reading: Acts 14:8-22. Paul’s joy and his ministry were unaffected by circumstances.

Second Reading: Revelation 21:21-27. The great joy we have now will soon be made perfect and complete.

Gospel: John 16:16-24. Jesus promises that all our grief will be turned to perfect joy.

Sermon Text: Acts 14:8-22. Our Unending Joy.

As you look to your expected years and decades until you reach your home in heaven, don’t be surprised by the many troubles you will have along the way.

But remind yourself that it is Heaven that you are traveling to where you will find unending joy throughout it all.

Selfless Love Marches Victorious Over Self-Glorification

First Reading: Acts 11:1-18. God teaches St. Peter that God does not show favoritism but rather selfless love to both Jew and Gentile.

Second Reading: 1Corinthians 13:1-13. It is not the spiritual gifts Christians possess, it is the love at work as they put those gifts into practice that defines a Christians.

Gospel: John 13: 31-35. Jesus commands us to show others the same selfless love he has shown to us.

Sermon Text: 1 Corinthians 13:1-13. Live in Real Love.

Love lasts into eternity. We will see our loving Savior face-to-face and we will know love in a way that we could never fully appreciate before. Along with faith and hope, love will endure.

Real love serves. Real love endures.

Fulfilled Works March Victorious Over Empty Words

First Reading: Acts 13:15-16, 26-39. St. Paull points out that Jesus’ death and resurrection both fulfilled the Scripture.

Second Reading: Revelation 7:9-17. The Apostle John sees that God’s promise to rescue all believers from the tribulation of this world is not just empty words.

Gospel and Sermon Text: John 10:22-30. The Blessings of Being a Sheep.

The voice of Jesus calls out to you and me. It is a place where the voice of the Good Shepherd is heard in the Lord’s Supper of forgiveness. How important it is for us to gather here and listen to his voice!

In a world with so many opinions and false information and fake news and unverified claims, his is the voice you can trust. He said he would do the work of saving you, and he did.

Take after the disciples by clearly seeing Jesus as the Lord.

Joyfully come to him as you receive his blessings day after day and thank him for all he’s done for you.

Second Reading: Revelation 1:4-18. Jesus promises to be with his church in the midst of persecution and hardship.

Gospel and Sermon Text: John 20:19-31. God’s Written Witness for You.

When you find yourself hesitant to share the peaceful and blessed life we now have through faith, take heart in knowing that the disciples themselves struggled with this, too.

Jesus rose so that all may believe in him and have the peace that comes from believing in him.

First Reading:  Isaiah 42:1-4.  Jesus will not snuff out our faith which gives us hope for salvation.

Second Reading:  Philippians 2:5-11.  Jesus humility encourages us to be the same.

Gospel Reading:  Luke 19:28-40. Jesus humbly enters Jerusalem on a lowly donkey.

Sermon:  Philippians 2:5-11.  Let Christ’s Attitude Be in You.

Be humble to serve others as Jesus took on the nature of a servant and died to save us from our sins.

Let us humbly serve others as Jesus did and share the good news of Jesus’ humble service to us on the cross with those who need to know their Savior.

Be hopeful for God’s exaltation for we know God will exalt us when we finally enter our home in Heaven.

What Paul valued was Christ, whom God exalted in the resurrection.

Through Christ God exalts us as well, regardless of what the world thinks of us.

Jesus was determined to g o to Jerusalem on the paths of danger and rejection so he could be our Savior and gather us under his wings.

Let us be determined to remain under his care as we journey to heaven and crush every sinful shortcut that comes up along the way.
